Sportana is looking for new biomarkers to monitor health, performance and recovery
The link between exercise and health is obvious but the border between healthy exercising and training too much is still vague. Every year many athletes deal with overtraining and don’t achieve their objectives.
To explore this, Sportana (the sports research group within Anacura Lab) will study 300 endurance athletes (marathon runners, mountain bikers, cyclists, triathletes, duathletes and rowers) during their training towards a big sports challenge. In addition to various blood and saliva analyses, the athletes will be continuously monitored with the SpartaNova diary system. The thus collected data about the mental state and training load of athletes can then be compared with biological parameters.
