SKA Congress: 'On the Edge - groundbreaking sports medicine'
On Saturday, March 5 2016, SKA (Vereniging van Sport - en keuringsartsen) organizes a sports medical congress in Antwerp for sports doctors and general practitioners: ‘On the Edge - groundbreaking sports medicine’.
GPs with an interest in sports medicine can attend a practical training to use the VASO – protocol in their practice. The VASO is a research and online platform developed by SKA and the Flemish government to implement scientific and sports-specific physical examination for (candidate) athletes.
The VASO is groundbreaking in three respects. Firstly, the protocol starts with an online questionnaire for athletes at www.sportkeuring.be. More than 90,000 people have already filled this out. Moreover, the VASO offers physicians the assurance that they screen their athletes for each sport and all intensity levels according to the correct parameters. The third advantage is that the anonymous data can be used by sports federations for an evidence-based injury prevention approach.
SpartaNova is a proud partner of this project and will provide the training on the sports-specific screening tests at the congress. More information and registration: http://www.sportartsen.be/
